 Wadebridge is one of the most distinctive and reliable point‑to‑point courses in the South West, set on the Royal Cornwall Showground just outside the town. It has a very different feel from the northern and Midlands tracks you’ve been asking about: broad, open, tidy, professionally laid out, and with a consistency of ground and presentation that comes from being on a permanent showground rather than farmland.

The course is left‑handed and essentially a big, sweeping oval on gently undulating ground. Nothing is dramatic, but the rises and falls are enough to shape the rhythm of a race. Horses are almost always travelling on a slight gradient, and that makes balance and stamina matter more than pure cruising speed. The back straight has a steady climb that can expose anything racing too freely, while the turn into the home straight opens out into a long, fair run‑in where sustained pace counts.

The fences are proper, well‑built timber, always smartly presented and spaced in a pattern that encourages rhythm rather than frantic adjustment. Horses that jump economically tend to thrive because the approaches often feel slightly on the rise, and anything that wastes energy at the fences can lose momentum quickly. Front‑runners can do well if they settle early, but the long straight gives hold‑up horses a chance provided they travel kindly and jump fluently.
